Terms of Sale and Use

Version 1.3 · Effective 22 October 2026 · Changed from version 1.2 (7 October 2026): section 10 now says what the claim form already does: joining AI Leakage Alerts is part of claiming the free Basic certificate, and your choice on a paid certificate. Version 1.2 (7 October 2026) changed section 10, new part on AI Leakage Alerts and what “relevant information” means. Version 1.1 (1 October 2026) changed section 2, paid introductions to our own courses closed, and added section 14, for certificate holders who train or advise others.

These terms cover aileakage.com and anything you buy from us. They are in plain English on purpose. If something here is unclear, email quentin@aileakage.com and ask. We would rather explain a term than rely on one you did not understand.

1. Who you are dealing with

AI Leakage is a trading name of Digital Marketing Infrastructure Limited, a New Zealand company.

  • Registered company name: Digital Marketing Infrastructure Limited
  • NZBN: 9429046610386
  • GST number: 125-209-076
  • Address: 1180 Old North Road, Helensville 0882, New Zealand
  • Contact: quentin@aileakage.com

“We”, “us” and “our” mean Digital Marketing Infrastructure Limited. “You” means you, or the organisation you are buying for.

2. The free research and tools

The vendor ratings, the AI Acceptable Use Policy template, the AI Policy Builder and the self-check tools are free. No charge, and no email address required to use them.

They are research, not advice. We report what we found about what an AI tool does with the data put into it, on a stated date, from stated sources. We are not lawyers and nothing on this site is legal advice. Whether a tool suits your business, what the Privacy Act 2020 requires of you, and whether a contract you hold permits a given tool are decisions for you, and where the stakes are real, for your adviser.

They are true as at a date, and vendors change their terms. Every profile shows when it was last verified. Vendors change data terms, switch on AI features and alter defaults without notice, sometimes between our check and your reading. Check the date on the profile, and check the vendor’s own current terms before relying on a rating for anything that matters.

We take no money from any company whose products we assess. No sponsorship, no affiliate commission, no paid placement, no reseller or partner arrangement: not on the AI tools we rate, not on anything suggested in a report or a course, and not on adjacent products like backup or password managers. The rating is the product, and a rating that can be bought is worth nothing to the person reading it.

Nobody is paid for introductions to our own training either. A certificate holder can give someone a code that lowers the price they pay, and holders who train other people can use a lower practitioner rate for their learners’ certification. Nobody is paid for passing a code on. From 8 August to 30 September 2026 these terms allowed a certificate holder to be paid for introducing someone to our courses. That arrangement was never used and closed on 30 September 2026. The details are on our Affiliate Disclosure page.

3. The paid certificates

We sell online courses with a test and a certificate. Basic is free. The other tiers are paid.

All prices are in New Zealand dollars and include GST. The price that applies to you is the one shown on the course page and at the checkout before you pay. We do not list prices here, because a figure in a terms page goes stale and the checkout does not. If the two ever disagreed, the checkout is what you agreed to and the lower of the two is what you will be charged.

Certificates expire, and recertification is charged separately at the price published when you renew.

Payment is taken by Stripe on a Stripe-hosted page. Your card details never reach this site and we never see or store them. Your card statement will show AI Leakage.

4. How access works, and what to do when it breaks

When your payment succeeds we email an access code to the address you gave at checkout. Enter the code once and it unlocks that course.

One code covers one learner. The code binds to the browser you redeem it in, so redeeming it in a second browser is refused. Please do not share codes.

If you lose access, that is our problem to fix, not yours to absorb. New computer, cleared cookies, different browser, phone instead of laptop. Go to aileakage.com/access, enter the email address you bought with, and we will send you a link that moves your access onto the browser you are using. Your progress through the modules comes with it. There is no charge, and you can do it as often as you need to. If you bought through your employer or cannot remember which address was used, email us and we will do it by hand.

Paid course access runs for twelve months from the date of purchase. After that the course pages close unless you renew. We will email you before it lapses, so it does not happen without warning. Your certificate and its expiry are separate from this and are covered in section 5. The free Basic course is not gated and stays open.

If the code email does not arrive, check your spam folder, then email us. We can see your payment and will send it manually.

5. The test and the certificate

You can take the test as many times as you like, and the pass mark is shown on the test page. We do not adjust results.

To issue a certificate we need a name and an email address, because the certificate names its holder and anyone can confirm it at aileakage.com/verify.

The certificate belongs to the person who passed, not to their employer, and stays with that person if they change jobs.

Every certificate shows the date it is current until. AI tool ratings change, so a certificate has a real shelf life. That date is most of what the certificate means. Recertification after that date is a separate purchase at the price published at the time.

6. Refunds

Thirty days, or until you submit the final test, whichever comes first. Email quentin@aileakage.com within thirty days of your purchase and we will refund you in full, to the card you paid with. You do not need to give a reason and we will not ask for one.

The window closes early if you submit the final test, because that is the point at which a certificate can be issued. We would rather explain that than bury it: a certificate anyone can verify is only worth something if the people holding one paid for it. Working through the whole course, taking the certificate and then asking for the money back would leave a verifiable credential standing with nothing behind it. You can read every module and change your mind at any point up until you submit the test.

If something is actually wrong with what we sold you, tell us whenever you find out. This is a no-questions offer, not a limit on your legal rights. See section 7.

7. Your rights under New Zealand law

The Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 and the Fair Trading Act 1986 apply to what we sell, and nothing in these terms limits or excludes them.

The Consumer Guarantees Act permits a supplier to contract out where services are both supplied and acquired in trade. We do not. These guarantees apply to every buyer here, business or not. We publish research about companies that quietly reduce the rights of the people using them, and we are not going to run a smaller version of that in our own terms.

8. What you can do with the material

The AUP template and any policy produced by the Policy Builder are yours to use in your business, adapt, and share inside your organisation. No attribution required, no fee, no permission needed.

Course content and test questions are ours. Use them to learn. Please do not republish them, resell them, or use them to train an AI model.

You are welcome to quote and link to our vendor research with attribution.

9. What we do not promise

  • We do not promise the site is always available or free of errors. We do promise that when we get something wrong we correct it on the page that carried it, rather than quietly.
  • We do not promise a vendor’s terms are the same today as when we checked. See section 2.
  • Holding a certificate does not prevent a data breach and is not a compliance certification recognised by any regulator. New Zealand law does not require a business to hold an AI policy or to train staff on AI. Guidance recommends it; nothing mandates it. We say so plainly because others imply otherwise.

Subject to section 7, and to the extent the law allows, our liability for anything connected with this site or a purchase is limited to the amount you paid us.

10. Privacy

How we handle personal information is set out in our Privacy Policy. In short: we collect as little as we can, we do not sell or rent lists, and you can ask what we hold and have it corrected or deleted.

AI Leakage Alerts and relevant information

When you claim the free Basic certificate you join AI Leakage Alerts. When you claim a paid certificate, joining is your choice (the box on the claim form), and your certificate is valid either way. In these terms, “relevant information” means: your certificate renewal reminder; alerts when the law, regulators’ guidance or the AI tools we track change; and occasional emails about our other courses, editions and services that build on the certificate you hold. Every email says it is from AI Leakage and has a working unsubscribe link. You can unsubscribe at any time and your certificate stays valid.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms, and the version and effective date at the top will tell you when. Changes are not retrospective: the terms that apply to your purchase are the ones published on the day you bought.

12. If something goes wrong

Email quentin@aileakage.com and tell us what happened. We will reply.

If we cannot sort it out between us, you can take it to the Disputes Tribunal or the District Court. Nothing in these terms stops you.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by New Zealand law, and the New Zealand courts have jurisdiction.

14. If you hold an Advanced certificate and train or advise others

This section applies on top of everything above, for as long as your Advanced certificate is current.

You are independent. You run your own business. You are not our employee, agent, partner or reseller, and we are not responsible for the advice, training or services you provide. Your clients contract with you, not with us. When a learner buys an Intermediate certificate from us, that purchase is between the learner and us, under these terms.

Your prices are yours. You set what you charge for your own training, advice or workshops. We do not set it, see it or take a share of it, and we pay you nothing for anyone who buys from us.

Your practitioner-rate code. Give it to your own staff and to the people you train or advise. Please do not publish it where anyone can find it, such as a coupon site or a public social media post. If a code is published that way we may replace it with a new one, and we will tell you. The code stops working if your Advanced certificate lapses or is revoked.

Teaching from our material. You may teach live from Foundations and Trainer Trivia, including showing them on screen in a session you run. You may quote and link to our vendor research with attribution, as section 8 allows everyone. You may not copy, hand out, republish or resell our course content or test questions. An Intermediate certificate is only issued to someone who passes our test on this site.

Describing yourself. You may say you hold our Advanced certificate and the AI Risk Assessor credential, and point people to aileakage.com/verify so they can check it. Please do not describe it as accredited, licensed, a government or industry qualification, or our approval of your business. Do not use our name or logo in a way that suggests we endorse, partner with or supervise your services. When you describe our courses, use the descriptions and prices on our site.

No income claims about our courses. If you tell other people about our courses, do not tell them what they could earn from them. We do not make that claim, and nobody can make it on our behalf.

Not legal advice. Our courses teach what the law expects. They do not qualify anyone to give legal advice, and neither of us should present them as if they did.

If this section is not followed. We will tell you what the problem is and give you a reasonable chance to fix it. If it is serious or continues, we may withdraw your practitioner-rate code. Withdrawing a code does not revoke your certificate.
