These terms cover aileakage.com and anything you buy from us. They are in plain English on purpose. If something here is unclear, email quentin@aileakage.com and ask. We would rather explain a term than rely on one you did not understand.
1. Who you are dealing with
AI Leakage is a trading name of Digital Marketing Infrastructure Limited, a New Zealand company.

“We”, “us” and “our” mean Digital Marketing Infrastructure Limited. “You” means you, or the organisation you are buying for.
2. The free research and tools
The vendor ratings, the AI Acceptable Use Policy template, the AI Policy Builder and the self-check tools are free. No charge, and no email address required to use them.
They are research, not advice. We report what we found about what an AI tool does with the data put into it, on a stated date, from stated sources. We are not lawyers and nothing on this site is legal advice. Whether a tool suits your business, what the Privacy Act 2020 requires of you, and whether a contract you hold permits a given tool are decisions for you, and where the stakes are real, for your adviser.
They are true as at a date, and vendors change their terms. Every profile shows when it was last verified. Vendors change data terms, switch on AI features and alter defaults without notice, sometimes between our check and your reading. Check the date on the profile, and check the vendor’s own current terms before relying on a rating for anything that matters.
We take no money from any company whose products we assess. No sponsorship, no affiliate commission, no paid placement, no reseller or partner arrangement: not on the AI tools we rate, not on anything suggested in a report or a course, and not on adjacent products like backup or password managers. The rating is the product, and a rating that can be bought is worth nothing to the person reading it.
One thing does earn a payment, and no vendor is involved in it. People who hold our certificates can introduce others to our own training and be paid for doing so, and the person introduced pays less than list price. That is money moving between us and our own readers, over our own course. No tool in our database is involved at any stage, so it cannot touch a verdict. Anyone making an introduction must say they are paid for it, and the arrangement is set out in full on our Affiliate Disclosure page.
3. The paid certificates
We sell online courses with a test and a certificate. Basic is free. The other tiers are paid.
All prices are in New Zealand dollars and include GST. The price that applies to you is the one shown on the course page and at the checkout before you pay. We do not list prices here, because a figure in a terms page goes stale and the checkout does not. If the two ever disagreed, the checkout is what you agreed to and the lower of the two is what you will be charged.
Certificates expire, and recertification is charged separately at the price published when you renew.
Payment is taken by Stripe on a Stripe-hosted page. Your card details never reach this site and we never see or store them. Your card statement will show AI Leakage.
4. How access works, and what to do when it breaks
When your payment succeeds we email an access code to the address you gave at checkout. Enter the code once and it unlocks that course.
One code covers one learner. The code binds to the browser you redeem it in, so redeeming it in a second browser is refused. Please do not share codes.
If you lose access, that is our problem to fix, not yours to absorb. New computer, cleared cookies, different browser, phone instead of laptop. Go to aileakage.com/access, enter the email address you bought with, and we will send you a link that moves your access onto the browser you are using. Your progress through the modules comes with it. There is no charge, and you can do it as often as you need to. If you bought through your employer or cannot remember which address was used, email us and we will do it by hand.
Paid course access runs for twelve months from the date of purchase. After that the course pages close unless you renew. We will email you before it lapses, so it does not happen without warning. Your certificate and its expiry are separate from this and are covered in section 5. The free Basic course is not gated and stays open.
If the code email does not arrive, check your spam folder, then email us. We can see your payment and will send it manually.
5. The test and the certificate
You can take the test as many times as you like, and the pass mark is shown on the test page. We do not adjust results.
To issue a certificate we need a name and an email address, because the certificate names its holder and anyone can confirm it at aileakage.com/verify.
The certificate belongs to the person who passed, not to their employer, and stays with that person if they change jobs.
Every certificate shows the date it is current until. AI tool ratings change, so a certificate has a real shelf life. That date is most of what the certificate means. Recertification after that date is a separate purchase at the price published at the time.
6. Refunds
Thirty days, or until you submit the final test, whichever comes first. Email quentin@aileakage.com within thirty days of your purchase and we will refund you in full, to the card you paid with. You do not need to give a reason and we will not ask for one.
The window closes early if you submit the final test, because that is the point at which a certificate can be issued. We would rather explain that than bury it: a certificate anyone can verify is only worth something if the people holding one paid for it. Working through the whole course, taking the certificate and then asking for the money back would leave a verifiable credential standing with nothing behind it. You can read every module and change your mind at any point up until you submit the test.
If something is actually wrong with what we sold you, tell us whenever you find out. This is a no-questions offer, not a limit on your legal rights. See section 7.
7. Your rights under New Zealand law
The Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 and the Fair Trading Act 1986 apply to what we sell, and nothing in these terms limits or excludes them.
The Consumer Guarantees Act permits a supplier to contract out where services are both supplied and acquired in trade. We do not. These guarantees apply to every buyer here, business or not. We publish research about companies that quietly reduce the rights of the people using them, and we are not going to run a smaller version of that in our own terms.
8. What you can do with the material
The AUP template and any policy produced by the Policy Builder are yours to use in your business, adapt, and share inside your organisation. No attribution required, no fee, no permission needed.
Course content and test questions are ours. Use them to learn. Please do not republish them, resell them, or use them to train an AI model.
You are welcome to quote and link to our vendor research with attribution.
9. What we do not promise
- We do not promise the site is always available or free of errors. We do promise that when we get something wrong we correct it on the page that carried it, rather than quietly.
- We do not promise a vendor’s terms are the same today as when we checked. See section 2.
- Holding a certificate does not prevent a data breach and is not a compliance certification recognised by any regulator. New Zealand law does not require a business to hold an AI policy or to train staff on AI. Guidance recommends it; nothing mandates it. We say so plainly because others imply otherwise.
Subject to section 7, and to the extent the law allows, our liability for anything connected with this site or a purchase is limited to the amount you paid us.
10. Privacy
How we handle personal information is set out in our Privacy Policy. In short: we collect as little as we can, we do not sell or rent lists, and you can ask what we hold and have it corrected or deleted.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms, and the version and effective date at the top will tell you when. Changes are not retrospective: the terms that apply to your purchase are the ones published on the day you bought.
12. If something goes wrong
Email quentin@aileakage.com and tell us what happened. We will reply.
If we cannot sort it out between us, you can take it to the Disputes Tribunal or the District Court. Nothing in these terms stops you.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by New Zealand law, and the New Zealand courts have jurisdiction.
